Kalgoorlie worker killed in workplace crush accident

A worker has died in the Western Australian goldfields after being crushed in a workplace accident.

Monadelphous, an engineering company, confirmed that the accident took place at its workshop support services outpost in Kalgoorlie yesterday.

Rob Velletri, the managing director of Monadelphous explained that emergency services workers attended the scene but the man was unable to be revived.

He also confirmed that an investigation will be conducted into the circumstances of the accident and the events that preceded it.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of our colleague in the close-knit community of Kalgoorlie,” he said.

“We extend our sincere condolences to our employee’s family, friends and colleagues during this very difficult time.

“The wellbeing of our people is our primary focus, and support is being provided to our employee’s family, as well as to our team in the Goldfields.”
