Worker killed underneath truck

WorkSafe is investigating an incident in Victoria’s Gippsland region after a truck driver was killed when his vehicle rolled on top of him as he checked underneath it.

The incident occurred on the South Gippsland Highway in Bena, Victoria, around 10:30 am on the 7th of October.

The driver, in his 50s, had pulled over to inspect underneath the vehicle when it rolled on top of him.

The driver died at the scene. Victoria Police and WorkSafe are investigating.

The fatality brings the number of workplace deaths in the Australian transport and warehouse industries to 39, this year to date.
