Worker rushed to hospital after Bondi wall collapse

A worker was rushed to St Vincent’s Hospital today after the collapse of a brick wall at a construction site in Bondi, where his fellow workers and bystanders assisted in extracting him.

Around 8 am this morning, paramedics were called to the site in North Bondi, after reports of a wall collapse. A NSW Ambulance spokesman confirmed that the man suffered “significant injuries” to his head, chest and shoulder.

“Emergency services and bystanders did a great job to free the man and safely secure the scene so that paramedics could assess and treat the patient,” duty operations manager at NSW Ambulance, Kay Armstrong, said.

“Unfortunately he suffered quite significant injuries to his head, chest and shoulder from the falling bricks.

“Our crews stabilised the man before he was taken by road to St Vincent’s Hospital in a serious condition.”

A spokesman for SafeWork NSW said it “is responding to reports of a wall collapse at a construction site in Bondi this morning. SafeWork’s investigation is ongoing, and further comment is not available at this time.”
