WorkSafe lays charges over dangerous goods storage

Victoria’s workplace safety regulator has charged Crossroads Logistics Pty Ltd over alleged breaches of the Dangerous Goods Act at their site in Tottenham, Melbourne.

The business provides telecommunications logistics, warehouse and transport, and WorkSafe alleged that they had failed to prevent tampering or theft or restrict access to dangerous goods at its site from March 2019 to March 2020.

In addition, WorkSafe has alleged the company also failed to take all the reasonable precautions required in relation to preventing damage to property or danger to the public from dangerous goods stored at the premises. They are also accused of failing to take all reasonable precautions to prevent damage or risk to the public by way of an accident that involved dangerous goods.

The site is in the same suburb as a significant chemical fire in 2018 but is not related.
