Worker fatally crushed at Melbourne worksite

A worker has been killed while operating machinery at a metal fabrication business in the northern suburbs of Melbourne.

It is understood that the worker, aged 46, was undertaking work using a turret punch on sheets of metal when he was trapped between the machinery and a nearby workbench.

WorkSafe Victoria has confirmed that they attended the Epping site and are investigating the incident.

Victoria’s workplace fatality toll for 2021 is only four – 14 less than at the same time last year.
