Critical workplace accident in Western Sydney

A 61-year-old worker has been critically injured after a workplace incident in St Marys, Western Sydney, yesterday.

Emergency services were called to the scene shortly after 1 pm after reports of suspected spinal injuries after the worker had been pinned against a pallet by a forklift.

CareFlight’s Rapid Response Helicopter was dispatched via NSW Ambulance and landed at the scene, where paramedics were providing initial treatment to the patient.

“CareFlight’s specialist doctor and NSW Ambulance critical care paramedic performed a clinical assessment on the man, including an ultrasound at the scene while also taking spinal precautions,” a CareFlight spokesperson said.

“The clinical team continued providing care as the man was taken by road with NSW Ambulance to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition.”
