Gas bottle explosion on the Gold Coast injures worker

A worker was transported to hospital with serious injuries on Friday afternoon after reports of a gas bottle explosion at a Gold Coast worksite.

Emergency services, including the high acuity response team, attended the scene just after 12 noon on Friday at the site on Nerang Street, Southport.

The patient was stabilised before being transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious condition, suffering burns to his face and arms.

Early reports suggest the worker was transporting the gas bottle when it exploded in his arms.
