A man in his 60s has died after an incident at a Delacombe business yesterday around 4pm.
Emergency services were called to the scene outside of Ballarat just before 3:30pm yesterday, where a worker was involved in an incident with two trucks.
A spokesman from Ballarat Police confirmed that the worker had passed away at 6pm.
“Police have attended a workplace accident in Delacombe at about 3.35pm this afternoon.”
“A man believed aged in his 60s, passed away after being transported from the scene for medical treatment.
“Police and WorkSafe are investigating and a report will be prepared for the coroner.”
The worker’s death comes less than twelve months after two men died in a trench collapse, prompting the state government to introduce legislation around industrial manslaughter laws into parliament.
Those laws will come into effect on July 1, which will see PCBUs face up to 20 years in jail or fines of over $16 million if they are found guilty of negligence over a workplace death.
WorkSafe Victoria has confirmed it is investigating the incident.
