Workers injured by cement pump on Melbourne worksite

Four workers have been injured on a construction site in Southbank, Melbourne after a cement pump exploded.

Around 1pm on Saturday afternoon, emergency services were called to the site, where police believe the pump on the truck became dislodged while pouring cement, resulting in injuries to the four workers nearby.

All of the injured men were taken to hospital, with two of those in a serious condition.

Victoria Police did explain that a vehicle had been travelling past the construction site at the time of the incident, and was also hit by cement, but no one inside was injured.

WorkSafe has confirmed that they are investigating the incident.
